1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels 2/3 c. evaporated milk 1 box German chocolate cake mix 3/4 c. softened butter 1 c. chopped nuts (optional) 1 c. chocolate chips Melt caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk; set aside and keep warm. In large bowl, combine cake mix, butter, nuts, and remaining 1/3 cup milk. Stir until mixture is crumbly. Press half of the dough into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake for 6 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool slightly. Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts; spread caramel mixture on top. Press and distribute second half of cake mix evenly in layer over caramel and chocolate chips. Bake for 15 minutes more at 350 degrees. |
