CARAMEL BROWNIES 
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. (6 oz.) milk chocolate chips
14 oz. pkg. caramels

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Melt the butter and 1/3 cup of the evaporated milk together; blend with the cake mix in a large bowl. Add the nuts. Put half of the mixture in the bottom of well greased 7 x 12 inch pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven; sprinkle with chocolate chips. Melt the caramels and the remaining milk in the top of a double boiler; pour over the chips. Top with the rest of the batter. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool thoroughly before cutting into bars. Makes about 3 dozen.
