BRATWURST IN SOUR CREAM
4 bratwurst sausages
1 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. cold water
1 1/2 tsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sour cream

Drop bratwurst into boiling water; remove from heat. Let soak 5 minutes. Drain. Melt butter; add bratwurst and cook until golden brown. Add water; reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 15-20 minutes, turning bratwurst occasionally. Replenish water if cooking water boils away. Put sausages on plate and cover with foil.

With whisk, beat flour and salt into sour cream. Then stir sour cream mixture into liquid in skillet. Cook 5-8 minutes over low heat, stirring constantly. Cut sausages into 1/2 inch rounds; drop into skillet. Simmer to heat through.

Wanted to cook brats one night and didn't have any beer. Stumbled across this recipe and I'm so glad I did! I used spicy brats and the spice from the sausage and the creamy mildness of the sauce was a perfect combo. Ate it on a wheat but with Dijon mustard and my roommates and I loved it. Actually didn't have enough sour cream so used half sour cream and half vanilla yogurt. Will def make this again.

Can't wait to fix it again, and it was so simple. A bit on the sweet side. Good with green beans and sliced tomatoes.

Really nice. I thought it might be a bit lacking in flavour with no additions to the sour cream, but it picked up the pan juices and was great. I served with steamed baby potatoes, sauerkraut, mustards and sliced gherkin. Also a side of pumpernickel (which I didn't really like!)

My son always gets excited when I tell him we're having this for supper. It is a great recipe for winter when we don't want to grill brats outside. By adding just a bit of water to the sauce, I have found I can stretch the sauce to cover six brats instead of four. It is good with mashed potatoes!

Surprised how good this was. It's now our favorite way to serve bratwurst.
