DUMP CAKE 
1 box spice, yellow or white cake mix
1 can fruit (crushed pineapple, sliced peaches, fruit cocktail or cherries)
1 stick butter
1 c. chopped nuts
Cinnamon (optional)

Into a small buttered baking pan (9x12) dump can of fruit, including juice. Sprinkle dry cake mix over fruit. Dot butter on top of cake mix, also nuts and cinnamon. Place in 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes. Cool, cut in squares. Serve topped with a cup of ice cream, Cool Whip or Dream Whip.

I've made this for years and usually do 2 cans of fruit... one can of crushed pineapple and one can of pie filling (usually cherry, but any kind will work).

I've made this b4 years ago but i should've read christina's comment b/4 i did it because not all the cake mix soaked up the juice which i forgot about that...lol

I only use 3/4 of a box of the mix and 2 cans of fruit and 1 1/2 sticks of butter enough to cover top a little more so no dry mixture. Made tonight with walnuts and white cake mix, pineapple and Lucky brand cherry turned out great. My non sweet eater hubby is on second serving.

If you put the stick of butter in the freezer for a few minutes, then use a grater, (think the cheese texture on a taco), you can get a better distribution of butter without using extra butter.
