BON BON COOKIES 
3/4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. softened butter
1 tbsp. vanilla
Food coloring
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour (DO NOT USE SELF-RISING)
1/8 tsp. salt
Dates, nuts, chocolate chips, candied or maraschino cherries

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla and food coloring. Work in flour and salt until dough holds together. If dough is dry, mix in 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk.

For each cookie, shape dough by tablespoons full around date, nuts, chocolate chips or cherries to form ball. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until set but not brown, 12 to 15 minutes. Cool. Dip tops of cookies into glaze. Decorate with coconut, nuts, colored sugar, etc.

Glaze:

1 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
2 tbsp. cream
1 tsp. vanilla or flavoring of your choice
Food coloring, if desired.
