12 slices bread 3/4 lb. process American cheese, sliced 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen chopped broccoli, cooked and drained 2 c. finely diced cooked ham 6 slightly beaten eggs 3 1/2 c. milk 2 tbsp. instant minced onion 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. dry mustard You need a doughnut cutter. Cut 12 doughnuts and holes from bread (lightly buttered, crusts removed). Fit the scraps of bread in bottom of 13x9 baking dish. Place a layer of cheese over bread. Add a layer of ham, then broccoli, then ham. Arrange the rings of bread on top. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over bread and all. Cover and refrigerate at least 6 hours or overnight. Bake uncovered in slow (325 degree) oven 55 minutes or until rings of bread are slightly brown. Before cutting into squares, let stand about 10 minutes to firm. Makes 12 servings. |
