FRESH CORN ON THE COB
(MICROWAVE)

Cook fresh corn on the cob in microwave with husks and silk intact. They will cook in their own natural moisture.

Place on dampened paper towel. Turn ears over and rearrange after 1/2 cooking time.

Cooking Timetable:

1 ear - 1 1/2 minutes
2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes
3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes
4 ears - 7 to 8 minutes
6 ears - 8 to 9 minutes.

When ears are hot to the touch, remove and wrap in kitchen towel or foil.

Let stand at least 5 minutes. Remove husks and silk (which is easier than when cold) and serve.

Serve with melted butter.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

Fresh Corn on the Cob (Microwave)

 Bobbi Shapert says:
Fast, easy way to prepare corn. Timing was good for small (or slender) ear. I increased to 2 minutes for larger (fatter) ears. Thanks for the wonderful tip! Great time saver.

This the best and fastest way to do corn on the cob. I always boiled or steamed the corn.

Once you try this .. it will be the ONLY way you will cook your corn. They are sweeter than boiled corn on the cob and do not require butter to give more taste.

 Penni replies:
You should try corn on the grill. That will be the only way you eat corn.....leave in husk, soak in water overnight or at least several hours....then grill outdoors. YUMMY.

All the above comments are true. Best and easiest way to cook corn on the cob. Much better flavor. I also cook my corn longer than the suggested times.

I should have read the cooking times on here first. I nuked mine at 5 minutes and... I had flaming corn on the cob on fire! Quite a scene.. getting ready to taste it after I put it out!

 Diane (Missouri) replies:
First, I soaked the ears in water overnight, especially since reading about Jeff's fiasco with the microwave fire! No fire extinguisher needed! Hands down, this is the BEST way to do corn on the cob. Thanks for the help.

 MIke Minga (Virginia) replies:
I soaked the ears in very salty water for about a half hour before nuking them. It adds the salt you want if you want to cut back on the butter!

 Sue m (Pennsylvania) says:
always do my corn this way... found in other recipe - just soak corn cobs in water for a while first... gives more moister to the corn when it is done

This worked great on fresh corn I got from the farmers market. I had great results with 4 ears at a time for 8 minutes and 3 ears at 6 minutes. I'll never cook them in boiling water again!

NH Corn Husker (New Hampshire) says:
I cut off the tassel with a scissors close to the corn and remove the rough husks, leaving the tender green. I wash those in water and wrap in plastic... 2-3 minutes cooks perfectly and you can run under cold water to remove the rest of the silk and the corn will still be hot to eat!

 Rhonda (Wisconsin) says:
Great! Worked perfectly... We like ours done a little longer, but the technique was a breeze!!! Thanks a lot!!!
