MICROWAVED FRESH CORN ON THE COB
Corn with fresh green husks

Place corn on turntable of microwave, with about 1" space between. Cook no more than 4 ears at a time on HIGH setting. Cook 1 ear for 6 minutes, 2 ears 10 minutes and 4 ears 15 to 17 minutes or until tender.

When corn has finished cooking, let cool a few minutes, then using a towel to protect your hands, hold corn and peel back the husks, the silks will be easy to remove.

Salt and butter the ears at this time, the husks may be pulled back over the ear to keep warm or completely remove husks and serve. Delicious!

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

Microwaved Fresh Corn on the Cob

 Cori says:
I found that two ears of corn cooked just fine in 5 minutes on HIGH and then left to sit in the microwave for 5 minutes. Maybe my oven is more powerful. Very easy recipe! So much faster than on the stovetop!

Husk corn. Wrap in saran wrap, no water needed. I just cooked two decent sized corn and only cooked for 3 minutes and it was great! The corn will be tender and juicy if you don't overcook it.

You should never heat anything in Saran Wrap. There have been studies done on the dangers of this but I don't remember the exact effect it has on the human body.

The time of cooking in this recipe is much too long. Two ears, each wrapped in a damp paper towel, cooks perfectly in three minutes.

All microwaves are different. Keep this in mind and adjust for yours.

Cook the corn as directed. Then trim the bottom of the large end of the cob. Hold the cut end and pull off the husk and silk with the other hand. Remember the corn is hot, so use care.

 Dave (British Columbia) says:
If you cut the ear about 2 inches from the end and then hold it by the leafy part vertically and shake the ear will come out with no silks

Note the purpose of this is complete silk removal, no muss no fuss - We saw a similar recipe in a store video - It instructed 8 minutes for one ear. We have fine tuned this (in our microwave which has a very high normal setting) to 3 minutes for one ear. Still working on multiples but it looks like 5 minutes for two. We cut the bottom off the corn, hold by the top (silk end) and the ear falls out perfectly clean. We use no wet paper towls, no covers, no water etc. It is amazing!

We have those large microwave steam bags and can put 4 ears of corn in the microwave and steam for about 8 minutes without turning them over. Follow the directions on the bag or box. Delicious!!

Just cooked 2 ears in husks for 5 minutes. Let sit in microwave for another 1 or 2 minutes. Cut bottom off and held silk end. Ear popped out cleanly and corn was perfectly cooked. Husks and silks easy cleanup. Will do it this way from now on!!

Microwaved two ears on high for 5 minute then let sit for 3 to 4 minutes, removed & cut off end of cob, grabbed tasseled end & when ear started sliding with other hand I pushed it out, didn't really need to but it was faster. At first I didn't cut the end off enough but now I know to go in about an inch. This was our first corn of season, it was cooked perfectly & was wonderful. Will cook it this way forever more.

A friend told me about this a few weeks ago and I did not believe how easy it was to peel. And, with no silk! Amazing!
