FRESH CORN ON THE COB
(MICROWAVE)

Cook fresh corn on the cob in microwave with husks and silk intact. They will cook in their own natural moisture.

Place on dampened paper towel. Turn ears over and rearrange after 1/2 cooking time.

Cooking Timetable:

1 ear - 1 1/2 minutes
2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes
3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes
4 ears - 7 to 8 minutes
6 ears - 8 to 9 minutes.

When ears are hot to the touch, remove and wrap in kitchen towel or foil.

Let stand at least 5 minutes. Remove husks and silk (which is easier than when cold) and serve.

Serve with melted butter.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

Fresh Corn on the Cob (Microwave)
 #40879
 Renée (Canada) says:
Before using the cooking directions, I pre-soak my corn husks for a couple of minutes, then drain them before putting them in the microwave. I also adjust the time for different sizes of husks. Yummy

 Kim (Indiana) says:
When I cook them on the grill, I never soak them in water. That is just a matter of choice.

 Mary (Ohio) says:
Tried this and LOVED it! I used to always steam it in the husks. But this is far easier. I did soak them for an hour or so prior to microwaving - got paranoid they'd get dried out or start burning. WONDERFUL!

 Randall (California) says:
This recipe was great! I just tried it tonight and was amazed in the actual taste! I did however adjust the time to 3 mins for a larger ear of corn. Thanks for the recipe!

 Alex in Toronto (Ontario) says:
I've been doing this for a few years after seeing the tip in a microwave recipe encyclopedia I purchased. I find that I need to nuke one ear for 4 minutes if at ambient temp or 4.5 minutes if not (fridge). This is for a 1100 watt microwave. I can only guess that at 2 minutes the corn is still pretty raw.

 TalkingEarth (Washington) says:
Nuking is the best way to do the fresh corn on cob, clip the tassles on top and then at the other end before you put it in circumscribe with a knife as deep as you can cut. When you take it out it will make it much easier to remove the husk with a single movement even when it is hot. Can't believe it took me 62 years to think this one up. /try it ull like it you'll say aw shucks, why didn't I think of that!

 Donna (Israel) says:
I agree with all of the above, however wax paper is better (juice-wise) than paper towels, and I pre-butter them.

 Carolyn (South Carolina) says:
Yep, super easy and great tasting!!

 Loriene (California) says:
I have done it that way for years and find the timing is good if you let it set wrapped for 2 to 5 minutes. I also trim the silk and remove some of the outter shucks and just soak a minute or two.

 Dana (North Carolina) says:
Outstanding! Thanks so much!

 Patricia (Illinois) says:
All of the above except there is a shorter way also. Just clean each cobb and roll in a damp paper towel and micro 2 min. per each corn. Turning over at half time. Follow cooking table as mentioned.

I was in a hurry to finish my Memorial Day meal and had forgotten about my corn on the cob. Ran to my computer and found this recipe and it saved the meal. Thanks!!

Amazed! Husks removed at market so thought this would never work. Delighted to be wrong! Wrapped ear in damp/wet paper towel, heated 50 seconds each side for perfect results. For one person, one ear this is wonderful!
