FRESH CORN ON THE COB
(MICROWAVE)

Cook fresh corn on the cob in microwave with husks and silk intact. They will cook in their own natural moisture.

Place on dampened paper towel. Turn ears over and rearrange after 1/2 cooking time.

Cooking Timetable:

1 ear - 1 1/2 minutes
2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes
3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes
4 ears - 7 to 8 minutes
6 ears - 8 to 9 minutes.

When ears are hot to the touch, remove and wrap in kitchen towel or foil.

Let stand at least 5 minutes. Remove husks and silk (which is easier than when cold) and serve.

Serve with melted butter.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

Fresh Corn on the Cob (Microwave)

 Judy (New Hampshire) says:
I have been cooking corn using this method for years. I cook 3 minutes an ear and increase with added ears. Tip -- cooking for a crowd, put ears in a cooler as you remove from microwave. Keeps hot for at least two hours.

Great technique, in addition I always peel back the leaves just a smidge to make sure there aren't any worms in the corn. You know the joke about what's worse than finding a worm in your apple....

I cook on a small boat. The KISS principle is a must. After my first use I loved it. I now soak one or two ears in a gallon zip lock filled with water (like I do for on the grill). Two gallon Zips if you need more. Better? Not sure a lot depends on the corn. Either way makes me happy.

Yum!! And the easiest way to cook corn ever! It stayed hot really well and was ready when we were.

I will probably never go back to boiling corn again. This is so fast, less mess, and doesn't heat up the house! I always over or under cooked it the old way. This was perfect and is so easy!

Quick and clean!! I went ahead and removed the husks before I nuked them and they were great. 2 ears got plenty hot in 4 minutes.

 Bob (New Jersey) says:
I wrap mine in plastic wrap instead - just before I do that, i run them under water from the tap - just so some water is in there with them - awesome

 Jimbob (Washington) says:
i tried and loved it too. in the husk, 2 minutes for a large one, no water added - perfect. not sure about the plastic wrap method tho. i'm sure it tastes ok but u know what they say about soft plastics in the microwave and cancer carcinogens. . .

The way I do it, is to set microwave to 50% power and set time to 5 minutes. You will get a nice even heating (your microwave should have a turn table).

I husk the corn and simply put it in a ziplock type bag. Put it in the microwave and press "Fresh Veggies" setting or about 1-2 min per ear.I've done it this way for years. Super easy and OH...SO YUMMY!!!!

My favorite method - - remove husks and silk from corn - put in zipper freezer bag - for one ear I set timer for 2 - 3 minutes but you could set it for 5 or 10 - time not crucial as bag will pop open when corn is cooked ! ! - - you'll hear it.

 Nel (Florida) says:
I've been cooking corn this way for several years, but instead of wrapping in paper towels or plastic, or soaking in water, I just place a small bowl of water in the microwave with the corn. It creates steam so everything cooks evenly, and there's no need to rearrange corn. (I use the same method for cooking baked potatoes, and sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes cook evenly even when they are shaped with a tapered ends, which usually get done faster and sometimes become hard.)
