FRESH CORN ON THE COB
(MICROWAVE)

Cook fresh corn on the cob in microwave with husks and silk intact. They will cook in their own natural moisture.

Place on dampened paper towel. Turn ears over and rearrange after 1/2 cooking time.

Cooking Timetable:

1 ear - 1 1/2 minutes
2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes
3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes
4 ears - 7 to 8 minutes
6 ears - 8 to 9 minutes.

When ears are hot to the touch, remove and wrap in kitchen towel or foil.

Let stand at least 5 minutes. Remove husks and silk (which is easier than when cold) and serve.

Serve with melted butter.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

 Daniel Smith (Texas) says:
Worked great. Better results than steaming or boiling. Especially useful for lunches at the office, when the Microwave is the only available cooking appliance.

We like to serve cob-corn with good olive oil or mixed coconut oil and lime zest! Delicious!!

 Binny (Alabama) says:
This is a great and super easy way to cook corn and keep its fresh taste! One thing though - cut through the stem end, making sure you cut through all of the husk leaving the kernels exposed. Then proceed with the recipe and then you can squeeze and twist the end with the silk, and the cob will, literally, come out of the husk, silk free!

 Vicki (Texas) says:
This is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It is so much sweeter than any other way I have prepared it. I don't need butter or salt it is so flavorful. The best part is that it is so easy.

Prepared 2 ears at 5 1/2 minutes per directions above (just added additional time as noted in some of the reviews). Be careful cause it is hot!! Husk and silk was easily removed. And they were GOOD!!! I will never boil corn again!!!! Enjoy!!!

 Judy Burleson (Indiana) says:
Tried a trick I saw somewhere? I placed ear of corn in microwave for 4 1/2 minutes. I cut off about an inch from the bottom. Because it was so hot, I used tongs to hold ear inside the shuck. Then I grabbed the shuck from near the top and pulled. Entire shuck came off including all silks - amazing!

 Alan (Georgia) says:
I have been doing this for years. I cook 3 minutes per ear. Works like a gem. Adjust time for size of ears.

 Deb L (Pennsylvania) says:
Fantastic! I will NEVER boil my corn again! I had smaller ears, so the timing was perfect. After letting them sit (I just couldn't wait the full 5 minutes!) I peeled the husks just like you would a banana and the silk just slid right off! Amazing flavor, too! Thank you for sharing this!!

Jo Ann James (South Carolina) says:
This is such a time saver and saves using a pot on the stove. Turned out perfectly beautiful and tasty. Will never boil corn on the cob again. Many thanks!!

 Uncle Gar (Florida) says:
Prior to micro-waving, slice off bottom of each cob at the widest point. Leave rest of ear alone. At the end of the cooking, hold the ear in an oven mitt, and pull on the top. Off comes the husks, tassles and all!!

 Mary (Michigan) says:
Thanks to the couple at Meijers in Rochester Hills who gave me the tip to make corn this way. I increased mine by 1 minute and making corn has never been easier. Came out so moist and tasty since it cooked in its own juices and the leaves and silky hair came out so easy! I'll never boil corn again!
