This salad was served in most restaurants that I dined in in Germany. Sometimes it had liced onions in the mix. It is awesome!

I am so happy I found this recipe!! My Grandmother made this and it was always my favorite thing. She's 94 now and can't cook and due to illness, doesn't speak very much. It was one of those recipes that she never wrote down and I thought I would never be able to enjoy again... but here it is!! The only thing I would add it in addition to salting the cucumbers, put them on a flat plate with another plate on top of it with sometime heavy on top to press out more liquid and drain multiple times. I just wish I could get the slices as paper thin as my grandmother use to!! I made a batch for her and when she tasted it... she just nodded her head and grabbed my hand. I still cry thinking about that moment!! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

Using the sugar makes the dressing far too sweet. No German would make this type of dressing. The use of paprika over powers the Dill so much that the Dill cannot be tasted. Forget this recipe as unauthentic and bad flavor profiles.
