FRESH CORN ON THE COB
(MICROWAVE)

Cook fresh corn on the cob in microwave with husks and silk intact. They will cook in their own natural moisture.

Place on dampened paper towel. Turn ears over and rearrange after 1/2 cooking time.

Cooking Timetable:

1 ear - 1 1/2 minutes
2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes
3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes
4 ears - 7 to 8 minutes
6 ears - 8 to 9 minutes.

When ears are hot to the touch, remove and wrap in kitchen towel or foil.

Let stand at least 5 minutes. Remove husks and silk (which is easier than when cold) and serve.

Serve with melted butter.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

Love, love, love this recipe! So easy. From now on this is the only way I am cooking corn on the cob. I did increase the cook time for one ear to 3 minutes but other than that...amazing!

I also cook my corn a minute longer that the suggestions above. I've the corn is done, score the bottom of the corn near the base of the husk to cut thru the green layers. Then, grip the the top of the corn near silks and squeeze the corn out of the bottom. It comes out clean, so silks and very moist!

Reading these reviews (some hilarious), I cant resist my corn cooking urge tonight. Tho I'm still hesitant on what cook time to go by.... All I know is I just like my corn done! I'm think I will try 3 mins per cob for average size but presoak & leave all husks on. Then cut off the bottom after cooking followed by a little shake (& dance, hehe) in hopes it falls out clean!...Not really excited ab cleaning silk from hot corn so I have faith in the wonderful reviews that tip will work!! Then I am going to top w/ some (I lied... lots) of butter, salt & fresh ground pepper! Thanks to everyone for sharing your secrets... I anticipate a new fav side item)

If cooking corn on the grill you only have to soak the corn with husks on for 1-2 hours. Rotate the corn throughout the cooking process and it should be done in about 20 minutes or so. The husks will still get dark but the corn will not be burned. We have done it this way MANY times and it is delicious!!!!

To shuck, try this. After microwave cooking in the husk, cut off the base of the ear of corn. Squeeze from the top and wiggle the corn and it almost slides out of the silk and husk. Somewhere on YouTube someone has a video of it. It works great!

I'm from 'corn country'. Never had done it this way before, but LOVE these results! Never again will I boil H2O, etc., etc. This 'new' way is THE very best!

Thanks to the couple at Meijers in Rochester Hills who gave me the tip to make corn this way. I increased mine by 1 minute and making corn has never been easier. Came out so moist and tasty since it cooked in its own juices and the leaves and silky hair came out so easy! I'll never boil corn again!

Prior to micro-waving, slice off bottom of each cob at the widest point. Leave rest of ear alone. At the end of the cooking, hold the ear in an oven mitt, and pull on the top. Off comes the husks, tassles and all!!

This is such a time saver and saves using a pot on the stove. Turned out perfectly beautiful and tasty. Will never boil corn on the cob again. Many thanks!!

 Deb L (Pennsylvania) says:
Fantastic! I will NEVER boil my corn again! I had smaller ears, so the timing was perfect. After letting them sit (I just couldn't wait the full 5 minutes!) I peeled the husks just like you would a banana and the silk just slid right off! Amazing flavor, too! Thank you for sharing this!!

 Alan (Georgia) says:
I have been doing this for years. I cook 3 minutes per ear. Works like a gem. Adjust time for size of ears.

 Judy Burleson (Indiana) says:
Tried a trick I saw somewhere? I placed ear of corn in microwave for 4 1/2 minutes. I cut off about an inch from the bottom. Because it was so hot, I used tongs to hold ear inside the shuck. Then I grabbed the shuck from near the top and pulled. Entire shuck came off including all silks - amazing!

Doesn't heat up the house!
