FRESH CORN ON THE COB
(MICROWAVE)

Cook fresh corn on the cob in microwave with husks and silk intact. They will cook in their own natural moisture.

Place on dampened paper towel. Turn ears over and rearrange after 1/2 cooking time.

Cooking Timetable:

1 ear - 1 1/2 minutes
2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes
3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes
4 ears - 7 to 8 minutes
6 ears - 8 to 9 minutes.

When ears are hot to the touch, remove and wrap in kitchen towel or foil.

Let stand at least 5 minutes. Remove husks and silk (which is easier than when cold) and serve.

Serve with melted butter.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

 Joyce (Indiana) says:
This is a great way to serve corn. Very tasty. You can also prepare corn when it has been frozen in the husk with additional minutes, Great way to have fresh corn throughout the year.

 Melissa (Illinois) says:
You can use a used wax bag (like a bag that cereal comes in) to cook the corn in to keep it moist.

 Pam (United Kingdom) says:
After nuking, if you remove the tassel, then peel the greens right back on themselves so the whole thing has the shape of a torpedo with flames(!), you can use the greens as a handle.

 Green Giant (North Carolina) says:
After microwaving 4 min per ear with husk intact, cut through husk 1/2" above where ear and stem meet.

Then while holding tassels and top of husk, shake and corn cob will fall out bottom with all silk gone. Remains in the husk you are holding in your hand, best way to save time shucking and removing silk.

 Steve (Florida) says:
After you are done cooking cut off the end that was attached to the stalk the corn will fall out of the husk with no silk attached. Just hold it upside down and shake it a little. You will be amazed.

 Lowndes (Georgia) says:
I put three ears in the microwave arranged in a triangle on the turntable. I set the timer for 2.5 minutes, rolled each ear over half way and did it again for 2.5 minutes, two more times , 7.5 minutes total, in a 900W microwave. They came out perfect!! And QUICK!! No sign of any silk.

I started corn on charcoal grill but ran out of heat. I threw them in micro for 2 minutes on each side. It came out perfect & the husk & silk just fell off. Tasted amazing & the easiest corn I have ever made!

I too tried it by wrapping the corn in a damp paper towel and nuke for 2 minutes. I was amazed at how easy and fresh the corn tastes. Thank you!

 Joe Donley (Ohio) says:
I was looking to cook only a couple ears without using a big pot of boiling water. I use a wheelchair, so I prefer to not use large pots of water to cook. The only thing I did differently was to let the corn stand 10 minutes, turned out fantastic. I'd recommend this method to all my friends.

2 Ears 1100 Watt Microwave at 7 minutes, wrapped in wet paper towels, I also washed the ears down first before cooking. Nuking with husks on comes out great! So easy, I will never be boiling again.

Tassels are on top of the stalks, silks are coming out the top of the ear. A farmer.

 Dixie (North Carolina) says:
My only add is to cut through the ear at the bottom... grab the husk at top... pull the ear from bottom. Wow!.. d

 Bruce (Wisconsin) says:
I usually husk the corn first and get off the silk, rinse the corn and put on a plate with a little water, cover with a damp paper towel. It comes out great. I have done 6 ears and usually about 8 min.

 Jana (Alabama) says:
I prefer shucking the corn first, rinsing off the silk, then rolling each ear separately in wax paper. The heating times are just right for perfect corn every time.

 Nancy (Washington) says:
Tried one ear for the time suggested. Corn was not cooked enough.
