This recipe sounds nice and I'm sure it is. But take it from this Italian boy, raised by my 100% Italian (from Calabria) 99 year old Mother. Onions, garlic, parsley, oregano, & rosemary. Use powered garlic salt, and pepper to taste and for extra flavor, Italian sausage both sweet and hot, a couple of big slices of Green bell pepper and if you dare, some nice bold red wine. I have been making this since I was a teenager, and It's a crowd pleaser for sure. It cooks at least 6 to 8 hrs at medium heat in the oven in a covered pot.

Great sauce! We started a garden and grew a lot of tomatoes! I always wanted to make a good sauce and I found this recipe! Fresh tomatoes are so good to use! Thank you for sharing this!

Wonderful easy recipe. The secret is that she cooks the tomato paste before adding the rest of the tomatoes and spices.

This recipe sounds spectacular! Only a couple of things I would do to tweak it a bit is to add a couple of tablespoons of sugar to cut the bitterness and a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce to kick it up a notch! Perfecto!

Way too thick. Exploding pot, trying to keep the lid on... and yes, it is on simmer. I even added water to no avail. Like Spaghetti goo rather than sauce.

Great base recipe to build from, along with the listed ingredients I used it to basically clean out the fridge, used a large bowl of diced tomato from taco night, 2 cans of paste, instead of 1, 1 cup white wine, 1 cup leftover chicken broth, also added 4 tablespoons of sweet garlic pepper sauce. All herbs were of the dried variety. Pretty happy with it.

I tried this recipe for the first time, it is great! I did add a 1/2 teaspoon crushed hot pepper flakes, my husband loves them! I did add 1 tsp. sugar. And fresh basil from our garden. It smells so good, can't wait for supper... No jar sauce in this house again... Thank you!

OUTSTANDING!!! Only changes were the fresh tomatoes I added from the garden, after chopping them fine in the food processor. Fresh parsley and fresh basil added that additional flavor.

I like to buy neck bones, brown them up in some oil and add them in also if you're not using ground beef. The neck bones really add flavor. Any meat dept has them. I also like to take an onion, cut it in half and put a stick a few cloves in each side and cook them right in the sauce. Gives it a good flavor and then just spoon the onions out when you're ready to eat.

I was taught that instead of adding sugar, add carrots which have a natural sugar, then puree.

I live in a house with a chef so cooking good food is a way of life around here!! this was fabulous!! I did put extra garlic and chicken stock and a dash of sugar after reading all the suggestions and I'm gonna add one of my own... about 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper for some zip!!!
