RED HOT CUCUMBERS 
1 gal. cucumbers, peeled, sliced & seeded (not too thin)
1 c. lime
4 1/2 c. cold water

Let stand 24 hours. Wash 3 times in cool water and let set in cold water 3 hours and drain.

Mix: 2 tbsp. red food coloring 1 1/2 tbsp. powdered alum Add enough water to cover pickles

Simmer for 2 hours. Do not boil. Drain and keep. 2 c. water 1 c. red hots 7 c. sugar 4 sticks cinnamon

Heat until red hots melt, then pour over drained pickles, let stand overnight in this liquid. Reheat (all) in morning. When hot can and seal.
