1/2 box raisins
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 c. lard (not oil)
1 round tsp. cinnamon
2/3 tsp. cloves

Add this to 2 cups boiling water. Boil 5 minutes stirring a couple of times.

Set pan in sink of cold water until room temperature. (Be sure lard doesn't harden on top.)

Add 1 teaspoon baking powder to 2 cups flour and add to mixture above. Also mix 1 teaspoon baking soda to 2 teaspoons warm water in a small container and add in. Sprinkle top with sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
