STROPE COOK (MOLASSES CAKE) 
1 egg
1 c. white sugar
1/3 c. warm lard (I use Crisco)
3/4 c. dark molasses
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice powder
1/4 tsp. cloves powder
1/4 tsp. ginger powder
1 1/4 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 or more c. flour

FROSTING:

1 c. brown sugar
Milk

Grease 9 x 13 pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Soak 1 cup raisins in warm water. Cream sugar and shortening, add egg. Now add molasses and mix well. Add soda to sour milk, add to first mixture. Add flour (should not be to thin). Drain raisins and add by hand mixing. Bake 35 to 40 minutes (firm in middle) while hot spread with frosting. Will look more like glaze.
