MOLASSES CAKES 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. baking molasses
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sour milk (take sweet milk & add tsp. vinegar)
1/2 tsp. ginger
4 tsp. baking soda
5 c. flour

Cream sugar, shortening, ginger and salt. Then add eggs. Beat all well, stir in molasses. Dissolve 1 teaspoon baking soda in the cup of sour milk, then add the 3 remaining ones in the flour.
