NANA'S RAISIN CAKE 
2 c. sugar
2 c. boiling water
2 1/2 tbsp. lard (or Crisco)
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 pkg. raisins

Mix all ingredients together and boil for 5 minutes. Cool mixture in refrigerate until cold.

Later add 3 cups flour and 1 teaspoon baking soda. Mix all ingredients together slowly and put in flat baking dish. Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees (15 minutes longer if in loaf pan).
