2 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 4 tbsp. sugar 3/4 tsp. salt 6 tbsp. shortening 1 c. buttermilk 1 pkg. yeast Melted butter Sift dry ingredients together. Blend in shortening. Dissolve yeast in warm buttermilk. Combine milk and dry ingredients mix lightly. Turn dough on floured board and knead 25 strokes. Roll 1/4 inch thick. Cut, dip in butter. Stack two together on baking sheet. Let rise 30 to 40 minutes. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven until brown. |
