APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. salt

B:
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. shortening (oleo)
2/3 c. cold milk

C:
4 or 5 sliced apples
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
8 pats butter

Combine A ingredients and bring to boil. Mix B ingredients like pie crust. Mix flour, salt, baking powder, and butter together and add milk. Roll out like pie crust and cut into 8 (4 inch) squares. Add 1/8 of sliced apples to each square.

Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and 1 pat of butter. Fold opposite corners together and press dough together. Put in a 9 x 13 inch pan. Pour A mixture over the dumplings. Sprinkle with rest of cinnamon and sugar mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Makes 8 generous servings. Good with milk or cream.
