DROP SUGAR COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk

Sift together flour, salt, and soda. Using an electric mixer, cream together butter and shortening in large bowl; gradually add sugar and continue beating until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and egg. Add flour mixture and beat until smooth; blend in milk. Drop by teaspoon onto greased baking sheet. Flatten with bottom of glass that has been dipped in sugar. Bake at 400 degrees about 10 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool on racks. Makes 4 dozen 2 inch cookies.
