SPLIT PEA WITH HAM SOUP 
2 med. onions, coarsely chopped
1 lb. split green peas
6 c. water
1 lb. ham or turkey ham
2 tsp. sweet basil
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 tsp. chicken bouillon
1 sm. carrot, peeled and diced
1 sm. potato, peeled and diced

In a large soup pot, cook ham, onion, carrot, sweet basil, and chicken bouillon for 1/2 hour. Add rest of ingredients and simmer for 1 hour more, or whenever ham is fork tender. Remove ham and cut into bite size pieces and return to soup. Add more water for your own consistency.
