ELEGANT STRAWBERRY TORTE 
3 c. flour
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 c. sour milk (add 1 tbsp. vinegar to regular milk)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 pt. whipping cream
1 pt. fresh strawberries, cleaned & sliced

Mix together the first 4 ingredients. Reserve 1 cup crumbs and set aside. Combine egg, milk and baking soda. Add to crumb mixture. Stir well. Pour into 2 greased 9 inch round pans. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture and nuts. Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Cool.

To assemble torte: Place on layer, nut side up on serving plate. Spread with 1/2 of whip cream. Top with sliced strawberries. Place other layer on top and spoon whip cream in puffs on the top. Garnish with sliced strawberries.
