SUGAR COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 c. butter, softened
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

ICING:

1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/4 tsp. salt
1-2 tbsp. milk
1 tbsp. butter, softened

Mix powdered sugar, butter, egg, vanilla and almond extract. Mix in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours (or overnight). Heat oven to 375 degrees, divide dough into halves. Roll each half about 1/2" on lightly floured surface. Cut into shapes. Brush melted butter on cookies before baking and again after baking. Bake 7 to 10 minutes.

ICING: Mix all icing ingredients together until thick enough to spread on warm cookies. If icing needs to be thicker, just add powdered sugar.
