2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 c. shortening (part butter)
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs

Mix these three ingredients together then add the flour mixture. Add flavoring to taste. Add vanilla and spices.

ICING:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. water

Boil until it spins a thread. Pour over 1 egg white that has been beaten. Keep beating until ready to spread. Add vanilla while beating.
