SAUSAGE BEAN CASSEROLE | |
1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen lima beans 3 cans (about 19 oz. each) baked beans (6 c.) 3 cans (about 15 oz. each) kidney beans, drained (5 c.) 1 lb. Italian link sausage 1/2 lb. smoked ham, cut into 1/2 inch cubes 1/2 c. chopped onions 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce 1/2 c. catsup 1/4 c. brown sugar 1 tbsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1/2 tsp. dry mustard Heat oven to 400 degrees. Cook limas as directed on package; drain. Turn into ungreased 4 1/2 quart casserole. Add baked beans and kidney beans. In covered skillet, simmer sausage in small amount of water 5 minutes. Drain liquid from skillet, pan fry sausage until brown on all sides. (Do not prick sausage). Cut each sausage into 2 or 3 pieces; add ham to beans. Stir together remaining ingredients; pour over casserole. Gently mix all ingredients. Bake uncovered 1 hour. 10 to 12 servings. |
