BUTTERMILK CORNBREAD 
3/4 c. cornmeal
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 egg
2 tbsp. bacon grease

Mix cornmeal, salt and soda. Add buttermilk, then egg. Mix well. Place 2 tablespoons bacon grease in small (6 1/2") skillet and heat. Pour 1/2 of grease into batter. Mix well. Pour batter into skillet. Leave skillet over burner on top of stove 2 to 3 minutes. Place in hot 400 to 425 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
