Great recipe, it was spot on with flavor. I can say it is probably better than most restaurants!

THIS RECIPE IS SO GOOD! I am so NOT a cook and this was liek the easist thing ever and tastes *just* like the restaurant version. The thicking is really what gives it that slick quality you get from take out places and it's so cheap to make on your own. I skipped a bunch of stuff (mushrooms, meat, tofu and the bamboo) and added some tangled seaweed stuff, baby corn and extra spice to my palate. SO GOOD.

I picked this recipe at random off the Internets. My husband loves it so much we make 5 times the recipe and can it so he can eat it often. I have shared this recipe with everyone I know and they love it too. It is definitely quick and easy!

I love this recipe! Great soup with LOTS of possibilities! I add canned bean sprouts, water chestnuts and increase the vinegar and garlic chili paste :) I just shared the link with friends on Facebook! Thank you Rusty Barton for submitting this!

We love, love, love hot & sour soup in resturants and now, with this recipe I make it at home & think it may be even better than we've had in a resturant. 'Course, if I make ANYthing at home it's ALWAYS better ! (lol)

Lovely soup, just like a restaurants! I added water chestnuts, some noodles, sliced beef for the meat and used lime juice to mix the corn flour, instead of water. I had Chinese vinegar as well. Quick and easy recipe.

Thanks for this. I just wanted a quick soup recipe and this was perfect - very simple to make vegan and great tasting.

This is a great and super simple recipe. We made a small change after making it the first couple of times though... I use beef stock instead of chicken stock. It gives the soup a more hearty flavor in the end. However use a fairly high quality stock.

This recipe is very easy to follow and prepare. I made this vegetarian/vegan, omitting the chicken. I also did not add the sesame oil because this can add a strong flavor to the soup. Overall, the soup tasted good and spicy with a hint of sour. I will make this again because of the ingredients which I mostly have on hand. This is a good soup if you're feeling under the weather with a cold or such.

Fantastic recipe. I found it today and had to do a number of substitutions (dehydrated onion bits for green onion stalks, chili powder and garlic powder for the garlic chili paste, and I didn't have tofu or bamboo shoots). Even so the soup was fantastic. I can't wait to get to the store to get what I need and enjoy what is likely an even better Hot and Sour Soup! As it was when I just made it, it was better than some of the Hot and Sour Soup you find in Chinese Restaurants! Wonderful recipe, thanks! And to top it off, it took me 15 minutes to make it!

Fabulous recipe!! Family loves it.

I add water chestnuts and a bit more chili sauce -- I just noticed that others here say they add more sauce too; it is fabulous and has a bit more bite.
I also brown the pork slices and dump some soup water in the skillet... I then pour it all back into the pot... carries the great pork flavor into the soup.

Thank you! It is the easiest recipe to make hot and sour. I omitted sesame oil and tofu, and added carrots and cabbage :) Everyone liked it.

This hot and sour soup is outstanding. Another thing I like doing is some lentils to this dish - gives it a nice texture and makes it healthy :0 :) Loved it!!

I'm eating it right now, and I love it. Taste just like the restaurant kind. Add more chili paste if you like heat. I'd describe this recipe as medium. Also- I've used hot chili oil with chopped garlic in it as a last minute substitute, both work.

I was intimidated at the thought of even looking for a hot and sour soup recipe- you know, it's different at every restaurant you go to. So I was overjoyed when I found this, didn't have to go to a specialty store for any ingredients, went from chopping to serving within 30 minutes, and my husband loved it (it was my Christmas present to him this year....)
