GRANDMA'S OLD FASHIONED CHICKEN
SOUP
 
1 cut up chicken
3 stalks celery (clean cut 1/2)
3 carrots (clean cut in 1/2)
1 green bell pepper
3 parsnips (clean cut in 1/2)
1 bunch of parsley
1 turnip (slit in top in 1/4)
1 lg. tomato (slit the top)
1 lg. onion (slit the top)

Place chicken in large pot of water. Add handful of coarse kosher salt. Bring to a boil, then skim off the top. Add all the vegetables and bring to a boil again. Lower the heat and simmer for 2 hours or until chicken and vegetables are soft. Discard all vegetables except the carrots.

Serve over rice, egg noodles or Matzoh balls.
