1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 unbeaten egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. anise seed
1/2 c. nuts

Cream butter and sugars. Add egg. Blend in remaining ingredients.

Bake on ungreased pan at 375°F for 9-12 minutes.
