SOFT GINGER SNAPS 
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses

Combine dry ingredients and set aside. Beat butter, sugar, egg, and molasses until fluffy. Stir in dry ingredients; shape into walnut sized balls.

Roll in sugar and bake on greased cookie sheets at 350 degrees about 10 minutes, until puffy and light brown. Don't overbake. Cool slightly to set, then remove. Makes 2 dozen large cookies.

These are delicious! I added another 1/2 cup of butter to make them easier to roll. They turned out wonderful!
