IRISH SODA BREAD | |
3 c. whole wheat or 2 c. whole wheat and 1 c. white flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. sugar (optional) 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 c. sour milk, buttermilk, or plain milk Additional milk as needed Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put the flour in a large mixing bowl and add the salt, sugar (if you like), and baking powder. Mix well. Make a hole in the middle, and add about half a cup of milk. Mix. Add more milk as necessary to make a stiff dough. Shape into a round loaf and bake 45 minutes. Variation: Cut dough into four parts and make four rolls. Cut baking time in half. |
