IRISH SODA BREAD
3 c. whole wheat or 2 c. whole wheat and 1 c. white flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar (optional)
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. sour milk, buttermilk, or plain milk
Additional milk as needed

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put the flour in a large mixing bowl and add the salt, sugar (if you like), and baking powder. Mix well. Make a hole in the middle, and add about half a cup of milk. Mix. Add more milk as necessary to make a stiff dough. Shape into a round loaf and bake 45 minutes.

Variation: Cut dough into four parts and make four rolls. Cut baking time in half.
