TEXAS BASIC CORNBREAD | |
1 1/2 c. cornmeal 1/2 c. flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. sugar 1 c. milk 1/4 c. bacon drippings or vegetable oil Sift cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together. Combine egg, oil, and milk and add to dry ingredients. Mix until smooth. Pour into a greased 9 inch square pan, 10 inch skillet or 12 muffin tins. Bake at 425 degrees for 20-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Yields 6 servings. |
