DATE-NUT DROP COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. coffee or warm water
1 c. + 2 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. cut up dates

Cream butter and sugars. Add egg and beat until light. Add vanilla and coffee. Gradually stir in flour mixed with soda and salt. Stir in nuts and dates. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven 10 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on rack.
