GRANDMA'S ANGEL COOKIES 
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening (half butter)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream sugars, shortening, egg, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Form into walnut size balls. Dip top in water, then in sugar. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Press down in center with finger. Bake at 425 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. 4 dozen cookies.
