1 stick of butter or 1/2 cup
1/2 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
5 egg whites
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream together all ingredients except egg white. In different bowl beat egg whites to soft peaks.

Fold in other mixtures by hand.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes in 9 x 13 pan that has been greased and floured.

ICING:

1/2 c. butter, soft
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. coconut
Optional: 1/2 c. pecans

Mix butter, buttermilk and powdered sugar. Beat well. Add remaining ingredients and frost.
