BROWN SUGAR BREAD PUDDING 
4 slices bread, cubed
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. milk
1/2 c. raisins or apples
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 c. nuts, chopped (optional)
2 tbsp. butter

Combine all ingredients except the butter. Mix lightly. Put in greased 1-quart baking dish, dot with butter. Bake at 325 degrees until knife comes out clean, about 1 hour.

SAUCE: (optional)
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. evaporated milk
1 c. regular milk
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugar, cornstarch, evaporated milk and regular milk. Cook over low heat until bubbly and thick. Remove from heat; add butter and vanilla.
