CHERRY WINKS 
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. chopped dates
1/3 c. maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
2 1/2 c. crushed cornflakes
Cherries for garnish

Sift flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder together. Cream shortening and sugar together in another bowl; add eggs, milk and vanilla and blend. Blend in dry ingredients gradually and mix thoroughly. Add dates, pecans and cherries.

Drop by rounded teaspoons into cornflakes. Toss lightly to coat and form into balls. Place on greased cookie sheet. Top each cookie with one quarter of a cherry. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
