CHERRY WINKS 
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. finely cut, pitted dates
1/3 c. finely chopped maraschino cherries]
2 2/3 c. Kellogg's Corn Flakes cereal, crushed to 1 1/3 c.
15 maraschino cherries, cut into quarters

Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs. Beat well. Stir in milk and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Mix until well combined. Stir in nuts, dates and chopped cherries.

Portion dough using level measuring-tablespoon. Shape into balls. Roll in crushed Kellogg's Corn Flakes cereal. Place about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Top each with cherry quarter.

Bake at 375 degrees about 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove immediately from baking sheets. Cool.

Yield: about 5 dozen

I prefer to chill the dough and make logs and chill. Then when ready to cook cut the cookies as sheet at a time. They warn enough to have the flakes stick.

Prep the first sheet. While cooking prep the 2nd and add to bottom shelf. I prefer 12-14 minutes.

Lastly, the flakes stay crisper if the cookies are kept in an air tight container and frozen.
