ITALIAN SAUSAGE CASSEROLE | |
1 lb. mild Italian sausage, sliced 1/2 c. chopped onion 1 clove garlic, crushed 2 tbsp. flour 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, undrained 1 tsp. oregano 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. basil 1/8 tsp. black pepper 1 tsp. sugar 1 (10 count) can refrigerator buttermilk biscuits 1 c. shredded mozzarella cheese Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In frying pan, lightly brown sausage, onions and garlic; drain fat. Sprinkle with flour. Add tomatoes, mushrooms and seasonings. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring until slightly thickened. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Separate dough into 10 biscuits. Cut in quarters. Pour mixture into oblong casserole dish, arrange biscuit quarters over mixture. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until biscuits and cheese are lightly brown. |
