MINCEMEAT PASTRIES 
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/4 c. rolled oats
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
2 c. prepared mincemeat to which you have added about 4 oz. good brandy

Combine sugar, oats, flour and salt; mix well. Cut in shortening to the consistency of coarse crumbs. Spread half of this mixture in shallow pan (7 x 11 x 2-inch). Cover with mincemeat. Spread with remaining half of mixture on top.

Bake 25 minutes at 400°F. Cut into desired size squares and serve with hard sauce, if desired, or as "finger food" with coffee. This will keep well for 2 to 3 weeks.

Makes 18 to 24 squares.
