FRENCH ONION SOUP 
2 lb. sliced onions
1/4 lb. butter
2 tbsp. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. dry sauterne
6 c. water or stock
1 1/2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
4 slices bread
4 oz. Swiss cheese

Saute onions in butter. Blend flour into sauteed onions. Add rest of ingredients and simmer until onions are tender. Serve over toasted bread strips. Sprinkle with grated cheese. 2 quarts.
