1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. applesauce
1 tsp. baking soda
2 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts, optional
1 pkg. chocolate chips
1 c. raisins

Mix soda and applesauce together in small bowl. Cream shortening and sugar in large bowl. Add eggs and applesauce mixture to creamed mixture. Sift flour and spices together. Add nuts, chocolate chips and raisins; mix all together. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
