APRICOT BREAD 
1 c. dried apricots (1/2 of 11 oz. pkg.)
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
1/4 c. apricot juice
1/2 c. orange juice
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Soak apricots 30 minutes in warm water to cover. Reserve juice. Drain and cut apricots in small pieces. Don't throw away juice.

Mix sugar, egg, shortening with beater. Stir in 1/4 cup apricot water and orange juice. Sift together and stir in flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Blend in nuts and apricots.

Line bottom of greased loaf pan with brown paper and grease paper. Pour in batter and let stand 20 minutes. Then bake at 350 for 55-65 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
