MOMMA AND EBBIE'S RUM BALLS
My momma and I used to make Rum Balls for every Christmas, since I was a little girl. Now that my dear momma has passed, I would like to submit this recipe in her honor.

1/2 cup Rum
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 1/2 cups fine vanilla wafer crumbs
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup pecans or walnuts, finely chopped
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Suggested Coatings:

cocoa powder
powdered sugar
chopped or ground nuts

In bowl, combine rum, corn syrup and remaining ingredients; blend well. Shape in small balls. Roll in desired coating. Cover and store in cool, dark place.

Makes about 4 dozen.

Thank you for sharing this. I had lost my own recipe, and this is probably the same one that I was making. What a nice memory to have of your Mother. Time in the kitchen holds many memories of myself and my own Mom.

This recipe made the best rum balls. I used pecans for the nuts and powder sugar to coat. They got rave reviews. They were so good I had make a second, bigger batch because they didn't last until Christmas! Thank you for sharing your mother's recipe.

And I was privileged to make them in her honor as well! I used 151 rum and they are delicious!
