4 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 1/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
4 eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla

Combine ingredients in large mixing bowl together. Ingredients may be stiff. Mix well. Then knead until smooth. Pinch off small amounts of dough and roll and shape like knot. Place cookie dough on ungreased cookie sheet. Brush top of cookies with egg. Place 1/2 of cherry for decoration. Bake at 325 degrees for 6 to 10 minutes. Ovens may vary.
