1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter
3 eggs, beaten
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. hot water
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 c. coconut
1 c. pecans
2 c. dates, cut up

Mix soda in hot water; set aside. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs. Mix well. Add soda mixture and remaining ingredients. Form into balls and bake on cookie sheets at 375 degrees for 12 minutes. Yield: 3 dozen.
