DEEP DISH APPLE PIE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
12 c. thinly sliced apples (about 10 med.)
2 tbsp. butter
Pastry for 9" one crust pie

Stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Mix with apples. Turn into ungreased square pan, 9 x 9 x 2 inches. Dot with butter. Heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare pastry. Put apples in pan. Dot with butter, fit pastry over apples. Slit crust and sprinkle with sugar. Bake 1 hour at 425 degrees.
